Who Am I?

My name is Rosie and I am an advanced clinical and sports massage therapist based in Musselburgh.

I am a trauma informed therapist, creating a safe space for every body.

My previous background has been in Social Work and social care, Personal Training and Sports coaching before discovering a fascination with bodywork and massage therapy. I follow the Biopsychosocial model of health and wellbeing which draws together not only the medical/physical elements of pain but also the emotional, psychological, and social factors that contribute to a person’s experience.

I have lived with, and recovered from, acute sports injuries and chronic knee pain and have lived experience of the frustrations of navigating the medical system for treatment, which is why the biopsychosocial model is so important in the way I work. Treating the whole person, not just their tissues, is vital for long term, meaningful pain relief and management.

I have qualifications in the following techniques/disciplines:

  • Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage therapy
  • Advanced myofascial release
  • Indian Head Massage
  • Hot Stone fusion and Masterclass
  • Jing Method Holistic and Deep Tissue Massage Therapy
  • Level 3 diploma in Personal training
  • Kinesiology taping in sport
  • Theragun percussive massage therapy
  • Pregnancy and postnatal massage
  • Treating scars/Scar tissue massage
  • Myofascial cupping
  • Manual Lymphatic drainage massage
  • TMJ (Temporomandibular joint) dysfunction and pain manual therapy

Where I work

I work from my home clinic space on North High street, Musselburgh which is quiet and peaceful, despite being close to bus stops for easy travel planning. There is free 90 minute on street parking on North high street itself, and free unlimited parking 2 minutes' walk away at the Brunton theatre car park and most surrounding side streets.

Unfortunately there are steps to access my flat; so if you are unable to navigate stairs please get in contact as we can make alternative arrangements to suit. I don't have a waiting room at home, so I ask clients not to arrive more than 5-10 minutes prior to their appointment time. I share my home with my dog Mr. Pancake. Pancake is a very friendly corgi who LOVES the sound of his own voice when greeting people. He will often want to say "hello" and make sure you're comfortable during the consultation by sitting by /on your feet. If you are allergic to dogs, scared or just don't want to meet him; it's no problem at all but please let me know in advance so I can pop him away and ensure I've fully cleaned any areas of my home you may access (clinic room, hallway, bathroom etc.)

What do I do?

I am a Jing Method clinical massage therapist, which means I employ a range of massage and soft tissue release techniques from Eastern and Western disciplines to develop the best treatment for each, unique client. My particular interest is in working to help people get out of pain; whether this is a systemic chronic pain condition such as Fibromyalgia, ME, or IBS or whether this is more muscular/skeletal, such as herniated discs, whiplash associated disorder, tennis elbow, or any pain held in the tissues of the body.

I also work with those in recovery from acute injury, whether this be a sporting injury or from some other form of accident or impact. I can support your recovery through initial assessment, hands on therapies and with rehabilitation planning and ongoing review.

What to expect if you book with me:

I undertake a FREE 20-30 minute full consultation with everyone prior to their first treatment, to make sure I have a good understanding of what you want to achieve from our treatments and your short- and long-term goals in terms of recovery. If you book an hour, 90 minutes or two-hour treatment that is the time you will receive hands on therapy, your consultation does not eat into your treatment time.

Each treatment will draw from elements of all my training and knowledge and be completely personal and bespoke for you. I work WITH you to achieve your goals for recovery and pain management.

I operate a truly non judgemental clinic policy. Arrive as your authentic self and know that you are safe, supported and believed.

I welcome clients from any and all backgrounds, any and all shapes, sizes, gender. Neurodiverse or typical: no person should be living in pain!

I only take appointments with bookings in advance, but if I get any last minute cancellations or available appointments I post these on my Facebook page , so it is worth keeping an eye out there.

AMAZING! Rosie was so welcoming. I was extremely happy with the attention to detail in conversation before and after the service also when adjusting various parts of the body and stretching or massaging based on what’s needed, and in a way that can actually help your pain points feel better. In comparison to massages from other places, my experience here felt way more therapeutic and would provide lasting results. I highly recommend and will definitely be returning!

Rosie did an incredible job with my massage - they got the perfect balance between helping me relax and working on some of the aches and pains that had been bothering me. Honestly afterwards I felt like I could actually move my neck like an owl (slight exaggeration but having a full range of movement again was wonderful!) The whole experience was exactly what I needed and Rosie was so friendly and professional.

Thank you for the BEST massage! I'm an anxious person but you quickly put me at ease with your calm manner. You explained the process clearly and I felt comfortable asking (stupid) questions. I felt so relaxed and I don't think my shoulders have ever been further from my ears. I can't wait until my next massage and can't recommend you highly enough!

Rosie is indeed a complete professional and I can't recommend her highly enough based on both her effective preliminary communications and particularly her fusion massage technique. The clinical assessment beforehand was also very useful for the both of us, and she was able to explain to me how Jing massage would feel by comparison to Shiatsu (with which I was most familiar) and its effects. I'm very pleased to say that the massage itself was wonderfully intense, particularly as I had never experienced scalene work along the neck before. Her incorporation of hot stones was an added bonus which was much appreciated. I look forward to the next session in the 'fix in six' series come January; in a perfect world, I would be booking Rosie in on a weekly basis!

Fantastic service from Rosie. Communication was excellent and after the massage I felt the best I have in years.

Rosie herself is super friendly and made me feel at ease straight away. She was able to communicate what she was doing and how it would help as well as some stretches to help in-between sessions.

I strongly recommend this service and will absolutely be returning

Went to see Rosie with some bad back pain I've been having off and on over the last year. I'd tried massages, exercises aswell as stretches but nothing really sorted it.

Rosie was very professional and gave great explanations throughout the whole appointment. I left pain free and over 24 hours after I'm still feeling great!

Highly recommend and will definitely be back.
